"Paul Kossoff"--Time Away..... Like so many talented rock musicians from the 1960s onwards, Paul Kossoff found not only fame but drug addiction at the end of the rainbow.
In an October 1975 interview with New Musical Express shortly after his discharge from a six week spell in hospital, he said he had been clinically dead for 35 minutes. He had though visited his record company the previous Friday, and was planning to travel to the United States later that year.
The title of this lengthy, haunting blues type jam was inspired by an earlier experience, which has been described as (only) near death.
• The track's ethereal sound was obtained by playing a Fender Stratocaster through a Marshall-powered Leslie cabinet.
• Kossoff kept his promise, but in March the following year he boarded a plane at Los Angeles, and by the time it arrived at New York he was dead, and this time there was no reviving him. He was still only twenty-five years old.
• The full version of "Time Away" runs to nearly twenty minutes, and is a fitting epitaph for a guitarist who still has legendary status forty five years after his sad demise, and an inspiration to fans and musician’s all over the world. And still my all time favourite guitar player... ... "Free Friday"--Here is another one with Koss Playing the Fender Stratocaster.I did not think he plays much on here until my mate said listen again, because Andy Fraser is playing the acoustic as the piano. But if you listen you can here the strat playing the chords behind and great solo at the end.One of my Favourite FREE songs it tells you all about them really incredible feel"Real mournful short solo at the end.In KOSS'S own words "I don't show off,I try to move people". That tells you all about Free and KOSS.Classic---top video as well by my friend Tom--Thanks Tom.. ... See MoreSee Less

"Free Friday"-It has been such a Sunny Day today after such a horrid winter- 64--oh yeah for the Europeans 18c--I have been on my canoe on the river made me think of this song..And Sunny Canoe just does not sound right..LOL---Lovely song just been strumming it on my acoustic...There something sad about it as well very melancholy..Listen to the end lyric.Such a great Band..A lot of people say Koss first used the Fender Stratocaster on My Brother Jake--Not so--he first played it on this Album Highway you can hear him clearly on the chords and the end solo sounds like the neck pick-up on the Strat very Country quite Albert Lee actually. ... Unreleased Paul Kossoff song Demo---'See That She's Not Alone' is a Kossoff song that Rodgers worked on with him at his Guildford studio (Bob Pridden The Who's sound engineer built the studio for Rodgers) as Bad Company was coming together-Late 1973---Paul Kossoff Guitar--Paul Rodgers--Vocals-Bass-Drums.Shame is was not finished because even as a demo you can tell this is a fine Koss song.Real cool Koss vibrato and that classic wailing sound that only he can play..Rodgers fine vocal as always---Even wanted to know what Bad Company would have sounded like with Koss--Well listen to this.Be nice if Rodgers revisited this with Koss's guitar--Like the Beatles did with John's "Free as a Bird"--Whatever cool song....There was only ever one Paul Kossoff...So the 2 Paul's take it away--The Soul Brothers forever. ... Stairway has been lampoon over the years, pooh poohed, even ridicule as being pompous, from peoples other artist own jealousy is very sad...It is without question the greatest mainstream Rock song of all time and as such should be applauded admire for being just that. Every artist wants to make that milestone a pinnacle of one's career and Zeppelin did that with Stairway it really is Magical. The performance by all four is sublime---As the doubters voices die away--The song itself sails into the Heavens. Even ol'e Percy might get rekindle the flame he once had for it...As it borders the thin line between reality and imagination--I don't like people covering this I certainly would not try but this is a fine version and retains the feeling of the song.Love the Harmony vocals girls, and to the guitar player well done Crowley himself would love that. ... Led Zeppelin---Night Flight---Led Zeppelin first recorded this song in 1971. it was intended for Led Zeppelin 4, but was put on Physical Graffiti to fill the double album. This song is about a man dodging a military draft, according to Percy Plant.
Most of this song was written by, John Paul Jones, who is listed first on the writing credits. It is one of the few Led Zeppelin songs with no guitar solo.A deceptive, gentle propulsive rush marked a gem from the last side of Physical Graffiti, anchored by a convincing strut of a guitar line. There’s a melody here, too: Jeff Buckley covered it to dramatic effect on the extended Live at Sin-é album.Bonzo's drumming sounds amazing the singing Hi-Hat..Sadly never played live shame, but did some of it at a rehearsal on July 6th 1973 in Chicago which luckily has been saved on Bootie..Av Itttttttttttt ...
