"I had forgotten how high this is Gillan reaches an amazing A5"This is a totally live recording "He did have an incredible 5 octave range-- Well, in fact, Ian Gillan himself says that he could reach a C (that is, one half-tone above the highest note in Fighting Man) in his youth from his debut studio Album 1978.. I haven’t checked, but you might find examples of that in Rat Bat Blue, in Message in a Bottle (Japanese version). I bought a BBC concert (from 79′ and 80′) where he reaches a D above that (so that would be D5, wouldn’t it?). It’s a bit of an accident, but a very beautiful scream nevertheless. When he was about 45, he could still go from low D to high B. In No More Cane on the Brazzos (the live version on video) he goes from low D to top A instantly, which is far from easy. Towards the end of Smoke on the water, he makes his trademark scream in high G, and takes it up a third to reach an A# ! And that’s the end of the concert, mind you! Nowadays, I think he goes from low D to high G. Comments about people singing on five octaves (like Mariah Carey, or even IG) are bullshit. The people who say that should take the time to measure things a bit. Mariah can certainly squeal very high notes, but she can’t sing all the notes in between, and certainly can’t go as low an A2, for instance. The octave span of great singers is the stuff of legends. What we can say is that IG could sing from D2 (although not with full power) to C5 (with full power, but in scream mode!). Glenn Hughes, whose voice is naturally higher used to reach a C or C#, but he would be much, much more limited in the lower octaves. I don’t think he can reach octave 2. Happy Birthday to Ritchie Blackmore beside a great player -He certainly could recognise fine singers-I we have to ask him what he thinks of Mine LOL---Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-Ahhhhhhh ... -"Muddy Water"--Another outstanding song by John(Rabbit)Bundrick from the Classic Heartbreaker Album..Rodgers vocals are sublime nobody sings Rabbit songs better than Rodgers..Tetsu holding the bass, and Simon is playing guitar ,backup vocals with Rabbit, and playing the drums ,they all had to pull their weight on this Album. No Koss is not on it he felt it did not need lead guitar and I agree with him Rabbit's wonderful piano and Organ carry the song.I could hear Marvin Gaye singing this real soulful..The sound Engineer on this as the Album = by Richard Digby Smith and Andy Johns is amazing one of the best sound of any Rock Album..Great lyric by Rabbit as well fine songwriter..Hope your keeping well Rabbit and Thank You.Turn it up. ...
